Additional Information:

  • To secure a hunt date, we require a $200 non-refundable deposit per hunter
  • Although in extremely rare cases, we reserve the right to cancel the hunt due to unforeseen circumstances.  If we are unable to agree upon or accommodate a rescheduled hunt date, the deposit will be refunded in full.
  • Wounded Policy: If an animal is wounded and not recovered, this will be considered a successful harvest.

What to Expect on Your Guided Wild Pig Hunt


Every guided wild pig hunt with SMC Williams Guide Service begins before sunrise, allowing plenty of time to meet your guide, complete the necessary paperwork, and prepare for the day's hunt before legal hunting hours begin. Prior to your hunt, we will provide detailed directions and a designated meeting location and time. Upon arrival, you'll meet your guide, complete all required documentation—including guide logs and liability waivers—and receive a comprehensive safety briefing covering firearm safety, hunting procedures, communication, and what to expect throughout the day.


Once everyone is ready, we will caravan to the hunting property where hunters can safely park their vehicles before joining their guide in our ranch vehicles. From there, we'll head into the field and begin hunting during legal hunting hours.


No two California wild pig hunts are exactly alike. Every day presents different conditions, and our approach is based on years of experience interpreting pig behavior and adapting to changing circumstances. Weather, temperature, recent hunting pressure, food availability, water sources, seasonal movement patterns, and the unique characteristics of each ranch all influence how we hunt.


Our primary method is spot-and-stalk hunting, where we spend time carefully glassing hillsides, oak woodlands, canyons, and feeding areas using high-quality optics to locate free-range wild pigs. Once pigs are located, your guide will develop the safest and most effective plan to close the distance and create a quality shot opportunity.


When conditions warrant, we may also incorporate the use of our trained pig dogs to help locate wild pigs in dense cover or challenging terrain. The decision to use dogs is based on the specific ranch, current conditions, and what we believe will provide our hunters with the greatest opportunity for success. Our priority is always to use the hunting method best suited to the conditions while maintaining ethical, fair-chase hunting practices.


Throughout the hunt, your guide will provide instruction, assist with shot placement, and work closely with you to maximize every opportunity. Whether you're an experienced hunter or pursuing your first California wild boar, we tailor the hunt to your experience level and hunting goals.


A hunt concludes when every member of the hunting party has harvested their animal, has been provided quality hunting opportunities throughout the scheduled hunt, or when the duration of the hunt has ended. Following a successful harvest, we'll assist with recovery, field dressing, trophy photos, and preparing your wild pig for transport so you can take home both outstanding memories and exceptional table fare.
